KCC Conservation Lab
KCC Conservation Lab (formerly known as the Kolkata Institute of Art Conservation) had been set up at KCC in 2018 to address the need for a modern art conservation and restoration facility in West Bengal and the eastern region of India. This art conservation facility not only conserves and restores art for institutions and individuals, but also imparts training and encourages research in heritage conservation.
The Centre is equipped and manned to treat classical oil paintings, contemporary works in oil, acrylic, watercolour and mixed media, as well as miniatures, manuscripts, prints, drawings, rare books, textile, metal, stone, terracotta, glass and other decorative art objects.
The Kolkata Institute of Art Conservation aims to build up the art conservation ecosystem through conservation and restoration of artworks in the most scientific manner, build capacity of art conservators as well as of the other stakeholders by conducting regular outreach programs, upgradation of its facilities, and providing expertise/service to external collections belonging to individuals, institutions and art galleries as well as proposal writing to support their conservation needs through grants. Over the next few years KIAC aspires to create an art analysis unit as well as a research wing to further the trans disciplinary subject of art conservation. We look forward to collaborating with individuals and institutions to further the course of art conservation in India.
